Bush and Arroyo: Big Brother, Little Sister
What's the difference between US president Bush and Philippine president Arroyo? Not much according to Aziz Choudry's article in Scoop. His conclusion summarizes one of the most important lessons about politics I've learned in the Philippines: "If there is hope in the Philippines, it comes from the building and sustaining of vibrant social movements struggling for justice and liberation, not the miasma of electoral politics, whoever becomes President." He adds that progressives in the US might reflect on this in this election year. The same is true for progressives all over the world.

Friends from Foreign Lands, Filipinos at Heart
