Do we need a double blind, randomised, placebo controlled, trial of the parachute? 

The Christmas issue of BMJ, a respected medical journal, carries some interesting articles. One of them, a spoof of serious research articles, is truly hilarious. Appeal to end occupation of Iraq in The Lancet 

The December 6 issue of The Lancet published a letter calling for an end to the occupation of Iraq. It was written in reaction to an October 18 editorial in the same medical journal calling for more international aid to the country and argues that the Iraqi people need compensation instead for the grave damage that they and their country have suffered.
